Urbanistry – The Exhibition

It's the ultimate Nirvana for an artist always pending from somebody else's mouth and words to understand if what you do is just for yourself or it is for many people.
Not too many times in your life you feel that fire in your body that makes you think "I am making it! This is my day". This event has been one of those rare opportunities which I could easily fit in my top ten list of things to remember and bring with me forever. Seeing other people appreciating something that came from your eye and your mind, went through your lens, hit your film or sensor, landed on your memory card, approached your photoshop window, crossed your vision of what you wanted to convey, met the work of a great printing lab and then landed on a wall, is not something you can pay for.   It's the ultimate Nirvana for an artist always pending from somebody else's mouth and words to understand if what you do is just for yourself or it is for many people. And without falling in the trap to do stuff that others like, this is ultimately what breaks the wall between an artist mind, rather complex, and the world around him.

I created the term Urbanistry as a merge of the word URBAN and the word ARTISTRY as the main floor, the ground floor, of the exhibition was made of urban images where I used mixed processing tecniques to achieve my vision and style for this project. 96 images made the walls of the fabolous Domus Talenti96 immagini sono state esposte sulle pareti della favolosa Domus Talenti.

When Maurizio Angeloni and I first spoke about this exhibition, I actually didn't imagine something so big, but I have to say that I was touched when after 10 hours of intense work on Sunday to build the design and the atmosphere, I turned my head right before going back home and everything was there: My world in one room (a big one, but still one room). Building the event in one day was only possible thanks to the help of my wife and my father in law that worked tirelessly over the day. I must say I have never seen my father in law on physical work for such a long time. Here is a short video of the preparation: VIDEO The Vernissage (opening event) was really great and exciting. I had my friend Alessandro (www.alessandroraffa.com) doing pictures for me (all the pictures you see on this page). Alessandro has a great eye and tecnique and I still remember when I suggested to his girlfriend his first camera. It was a Nikon FM10, all mechanichal. I owned that model as well and I still keep mine. Thank Alessandro, you have been a great photojournalist that day! We had about 100 people visiting on the first day and over the 2 weeks, there have been multiple events running like birthdays, seminars, private and public dinners which brought to me some good sales. This is the unicity of the Domus which is not just art, but wine, food, social, music, theatre, dance and more!
